About Me
About Me

Hi there, I'm Luke, a lifelong animal lover with a particular fondness for dogs. In the past I have volunteered at the local Dog's Trust and also worked as a host for Barking Mad. During which time I hosted a wide variety of dogs from Newfoundlands to Chihuahuas. Clients started to ask for me personally following their dogs successful holiday stay.

I am fully insured and first aid trained and track all my walks and it is my aim to make sure your loyal friend has an adventure on EVERY walk.

My ambition is one day to open a luxury dog retreat and day care centre.

FAQ's

Are you Insured?

I am insured with Cliverton insurance which covers dog walking, pet sitting and also loss or theft of keys. I have also been CRB checked. Both certificates can be seen on asking.

Are you First Aid trained?

I am trained in basic animal First Aid which includes CPR for dogs (only for an emergency).

Will I meet you before you walk my dog?

Yes. Following initial contact I will arrange a suitable time to visit you at your home. This Free Pre-Service visit is to allow me to meet your dog and to go through the client and pet forms with you. This also gives us an opportunity to discuss any other questions you may have.

Does my dog need to be vaccinated/ wormed and treated for fleas?

Yes. Your dog may come into contact with other dogs on their walks. Dogs should be vaccinated annually to protect it against infections. In addition to this your dog should be wormed and treated for fleas. It is the owners responsibility to ensure your dog is up to date with all treatments and vaccines.

Do I need to be home for you to collect my dog?

If you are going to be out or at work you may wish to take advantage of my free key holding service. If not, then you will need to ensure someone is available to let me in when I arrive and lock up after I return.

Do you walk dogs off the lead?

Dogs are walked on a long lead allowing them to have the freedom but still be under control. If you require your dog to be walked off lead then I ask that you sign a written consent form at our initial meeting, however, I will only walk your dog off lead if I feel it is safe to do so.

What happens if the weather is bad?

We will get wet!

All wet and muddy paws will be cleaned and dried before leaving your dog. In the unlikely event that the weather is unsafe to walk in then I will contact you to arrange a suitable alternative.

What is the Key Holding service?

If you will be out or at work when I collect your dog then you may wish to leave a spare set of keys with me. Keys are kept in a secure container and labelled with a unique number which does not identify them to you. I am fully insured against loss or theft of keys.

One of the benefits of using the Key Holding service is that if you are delayed or have an emergency I can check on your pets. Also if you misplace or lose your set of keys you can contact me and arrange to collect the spare set from me.

What happens in an emergency?

I will make every attempt to contact you and discuss the plan of action. However, if this is not possible and your pet requires medical treatment then I will transport them to your nominated vet or nearest to my location, if appropriate. It is the owners responsibility to settle or reimburse any charges for treatment or care provided from the vet.

What if the dog walker is ill?

If I am unwell I will ask a trained family member to step in and provide a walk however, it may have to be fitted in around their commitments. My insurance covers a family member to walk in my absence. I will provide 24 hours notice if I am unable to cover your walk and fees for that period will not be charged.

Testimonials

Testimonials

Luke has been walking Bobby daily for the last year and has built up a great rapport with him. Bobby eagerly awaits Luke's arrival each morning, sitting by the door and wagging his tail as soon as he hears him arrive. When the walk is over Bobby stands by the open door wagging his tail until Luke gets in his car. We daren't mention Luke's name throughout the day as Bobby rushes eagerly to the door hoping to see his friend.

We have been using the Tempsy Dog Walker for about 6 months now and have found Luke to be an approachable and friendly fella who has gone the extra mile in looking after our little fur baby, Stewart. Luke is flexible, reliable and trustworthy and hasn't let us down. His prices are reasonable, his service is excellent and Stewart loves to see him. What more could we ask for!

Luke has been walking my puppy, Uno for a good few months now. he is very calm and caring and my puppy adores him. Luke is such a happy character and I know my puppy is in safe hands. Thank you Luke.
